The main reason I chose to apply for the summer scholarship was to make use of my time during the summer break and due to my keen interest in research. I was delighted to hear that I was chosen to do a project in MRI research as I was very interested in that field when I did a medical imaging subject during my course. I was contemplating on taking up something related to it for my thesis.

After completing the research, I learned how to carry out a research task in a scientific manner, with the help of my supervisor. Mainly, research involved a lot of initiation and self-motivation and identifying gaps in knowledge and what needed to be done to carry the tasks successfully. The research experience helped me carry out my final year thesis more effectively as I was better prepared for it. I was able to improve my programming skills and apply some useful theories learnt earlier during the course. I highly recommend everyone to apply for a summer project because not only you will prepare yourself for the final year project, but you will carry out valuable work-experience that you can talk about during job-interviews.
