Eloise Sargent

A double degree in Commerce and Engineering was the perfect combination for Eloise Sargent. Originally planning to study law, Eloise realised just how much she enjoyed maths and science.

“I decided against Law and turned my thoughts to Engineering due to the course opportunities and the fact that there was a general first year. This meant that I could take some time to decide which stream I wanted to work in and to explore different aspects of the profession”.

Eloise received an Engineering Excellence Award and was offered a place in the “Leadership in a Technological Environment Program”. She has had the opportunity to network with industry leaders and acquire leadership skills.

“The Leadership Launch Dinner was a fantastic opportunity to talk to leaders within the industry. I was even able to line up some vacation work at an Engineering company! This program has exceeded all expectations”.

In addition to working part time, teaching the flute and tutoring students in maths, Eloise is also a member of the Monash Engineering Student’s Society and encourages future students to embrace all that University life has to offer.

“I am proud to tell people that I study Engineering at Monash… my advice to prospective students is to get out there and involve yourself in everything! Don't hold back, because the networks you set up will last not only throughout your course, but throughout your careers as well”.
