Melvin Tan Xiao Lei

Melvin’s aim is to become an expert in granulation in the pharmaceutical area where he can continue researching and teaching.

For now though, Melvin’s research is investigating the mechanisms that control foam nucleation and granulation.

“The project will achieve new insight into a novel foam research in pharmaceutical manufacturing and find new applications in foam science which will further enhance the excellence in both foam and granulation research and contribute to a new school of excellence in granulation at Monash University”.

Melvin says this research experience has equipped him with the ability to act and think independently. He is also impressed with the facilities Monash has to offer.

“The lecturers are genuine professionals in their fields and most importantly they are very approachable and the engineering facilities such as the laboratories are excellent”.

And Melvin has some sound advice for prospective research students.

“Get active and involved by joining your local church, clubs or play sports outside of study. Play hard and study smart!”
