Pathways to Monash Engineering

The Monash College bridging program offers guaranteed entry into the second year of the BEng degree at Monash University for successful students.

It may well be the pathway to university you are looking for.

Bridging school and university

Many students – whether from Australia or not, and no matter their background – find that undertaking a Monash College undergraduate diploma is the ideal bridge between school and university, as it makes the transition as smooth and simple as possible.

However, don’t make the mistake of thinking that Monash College programs are an easy way in. On the contrary, they are academically demanding because we have to ensure that students can meet the challenge of an Engineering degree at Monash University.

For this reason, Monash College entry requirements are set higher than those of other bridging programs (although they are still slightly lower than the direct entry requirements for Monash University).

The results speak for the success of this approach, with Monash College students consistently performing well in their degree.

 

  
In a nutshell

Here’s how it works.

  • Monash College offers the Diploma of Engineering Studies, Parts 1 and 2. This is a fee-paying program, taught on the Clayton campus.

  • Part 1 is equivalent to Year 12, and Part 2 is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.

  • Students who complete Part 1 may be eligible for entry into the first year of the BEng degree at Monash University. Students who complete Part 2 are guaranteed entry into the second year.

  • Because Monash College operates three study semesters a year, and has small classes with strong tutorial support, it is possible to complete Parts 1 and 2 within 20 months.

  • Students may qualify for entry directly into Part 2. They can then complete their diploma in 12 months.
