Monash Motorsport finishes 2nd in Australia

09 March 2009

In November 2008, Monash Motorsport competed in the 2008 Formula SAE Australasia Competition. The event included 22 universities from all over the world and was held over 3 days at Victoria University in Werribee. There was a combination of static and dynamic events used to determine who had designed and built the best car for 2008.

After the final day of competition, Monash Motorsport was awarded 4th place overall, and an amazing 2nd place from the Australian teams.

The team are preparing for an even bigger and better 2009, with focus being directed towards designing a vehicle with a simpler and more reliable design, improved suspension design incorporating a lighter brake package and a front anti-roll bar, improving driver ergonomics, increasing the power and drivability of the engine by testing and redesigning the intake and exhaust systems and designing an electronic semi-automatic gear shifter to change gears in less than 50 milliseconds.

Team Leader, Rachel Mace said, “I am looking forward to what I hope will be another successful year for the Monash University team and welcome the many challenges this year brings.”
