Monash Engineering welcomes students from Osaka University

Engineering students from Osaka University

A group of 31 engineering students from Osaka University in Japan were hosted by Monash College for a four week customized program which focused on general English and English for engineering and science. As part of this program, the Faculty of Engineering hosted a full day of engineering activities for the visiting students, who also had the opportunity to tour Monash Engineering’s state – of –the – art facilities.  The full day program aimed to provide an engaging engineering environment for the students to practice their English language skills to grasp and communicate technical information.

The students, who were accompanied by Japanese interpreters from the Faculty of Arts and Monash College staff members visited a variety of facilities, including the Robotics Lab, the food lab and big spray dryer, in situ demonstration of the High Voltage Lab, a visit to the Monash Centre of Electron Microscopy, a tour of the Department of Materials Engineering and students were treated to a presentation and tour by Formula Student (F-SAE) Australasian Champions Monash Motorsport. The students also attended a Campus Sustainability Walk led by Mr. Paul Barton from the office of Environmental Sustainability.
