The Engineering Faculty has welcomed Chinese students from the 2+2 Linkage Program with an excursion day to Healesville Sanctuary.
The 2+2 Linkage Program falls under the umbrella of the Australia-China Consortium on Engineering Education and Research (ACCEER).
Funded by the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University, Wuhan University of Technology and Central South University in China, ACCEER’s purpose is to develop a new platform for Australian and Chinese universities and industries to interact and collaborate.
In the spirit of learning about each other’s cultures and countries, five 2+2 Linkage Program students from Central South University were treated to a unique Australian excursion to Healesville Sanctuary, followed by dinner.
The students were most impressed with all Melbourne and Monash University have to offer:
“Having classes is another exciting thing. I only had classes given by foreign teachers, but now I am in classes with foreign students. I have been put into a group with Japanese, Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian students; truly an “Asia Union”. The Sanctuary tour, a welcome activity by the faculty of engineering, gave an opportunity to meet Australia’s local animals closely, for the first time. Enjoy the sunshine, beaches, sports, the blue sky and the white clouds in Australia.” Mr. Hong Liu (2+2 linkage)
“With expectations, I came to Melbourne and Monash, everything is new and fresh. The faculty arranged a welcome tour; we visited a sanctuary and saw many special animals, had a western meal, the whole day made me feel so warm, no loneliness. Monash’s system allowed me to adapt very quickly to life and study in Australia. Study is hard, but is fun and rewarding. I believe that our English has improved a lot. We are full of expectations for our future. There are many opportunities waiting for you, just try your best, a promising future belongs to you!” Miss Xian Zhou (2+2 linkage)
