Dr Breen has been an Honorary Associate, Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University, since 1994. Associate Professor Peter James Little was awarded an AO for service to people with diabetes, particularly through executive roles with Diabetes Australia, and research into the vascular effects, treatment and prevention of the disease. Associate Professor Little has played a key role in the Departments of Medicine and Immunology, Monash University; a research partner of BHRI and was National President and Chairman of the Board, Diabetes Australia (2003-2006). For service to public health in the field of communicable disease control, particularly through international humanitarian aid programs, Dr Christina Margaret Drummond was awarded an AO, having been a staff specialist at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Monash Medical Centre, since 2002. Mr Lawrence McCredie CBE added an AO to his title for service to legal education, particularly in the areas of tertiary administration and teaching, and to the community through advocacy roles for people living with a disability. Mr McCredie was an Honorary Associate, Faculty of Law, Monash University, since 2000; Associate Professor (1980-1997); Sub-Dean, Faculty of Law (1972 and 1975-1997). Mr Duncan Moir Malcolm, was recognised for service to conservation and the environment through executive roles with a range of natural resource management organisations and to the community of East Gippsland, having been among a number of positions held, the Associate Deputy Chair, Gippsland Campus Advisory Board, Monash University, since 2000. Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychological Medicine, Monash University, (1999-2002); Deputy Chancellor, Monash University Council, 2007, Council Member, since 2005, Dr Leanne Rowe was also awarded an AM for service to medicine, particularly in the field of adolescent and Indigenous health, and through executive positions with a range of professional health organisations. Also awarded an AM, Founding Director, Monash University Accident Research Centre, 1987-1998, Professor Arthur Peter Vulcan, for service to the community as a contributor to accident and injury prevention in the field of road transport, and to people with intellectual disabilities. Professor Vulcan's list of accomplishments also include Chairman, National Injury Prevention Advisory Council, 1998-2000 and Former National President, Child Accident Foundation of Australia (Kidsafe), 1999-2001; Life Member. One of Melbourne's leading neurosurgeon's Dr Kevin H Siu was awarded an AO for service to medicine and contributions to a range of professional associations. He was Senior Lecturer, Alfred Hospital Department of Surgery, Monash University, until 2000. Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Department of English, Monash University, since 1998, Dr Jennifer Strauss was awarded an AO for service to education as an academic and scholar in the field of Australian literature and poetry, and to a range of organisations involved in women's issues and industrial relations. Also awarded an AO, Honorary Professor, department of Pharmacology, Monash University, 2000, Professor Geoffrey William Tregear, for service to scientific and medical research and through administrative roles within research institutions. Awarded the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division are: Founding Sponsor, Australian Centre for the Study of Jewish Civilisation, Monash University 2001, Mr Peter Joseph Kolliner, for service to the Jewish community through cultural and religious organisations, to materials engineering and metallurgical education, and to the arts and tourism promotion in Melbourne and; Former Monash University Lecturer Professor Ann Margaret McGrath, for service to education, particularly in the field of Indigenous history, as a teacher, researcher and author and through leadership roles with a range of history-related organisations.
