Faculty Awards Night 2006

16 June 2006

The annual Faculty of Engineering Awards Presentation Dinner was held on Wednesday 31 May at the Monash Banquet Hall.

Over 200 students, parents, faculty staff and industry representatives attended the event where outstanding students from all levels and disciplines collected more than $60,000 in prize money, much of it donated by generous industry sponsors.

Dr Megan Clark, Vice President Technology at BHP Billiton gave an inspiring speech, urging future engineers to make the most of every opportunity, listen to their hearts and understand that sometimes a strategic decision to “be creative” within the existing rule structure can make change happen.

Faculty Dean, Professor Tam Sridhar, announced the introduction of a new Higher Education Worker Award. The annual award was established this year to recognise outstanding performance and dedication amongst general staff in the Faculty of Engineering and complements the recently introduced outstanding research and teaching awards for academic staff.
