RESEARCH INTERESTS

Professor Cherry's research interests involve the degradation of materials and its prevention
Current projects include:

  1. The stress corrosion cracking of high tensile pre-stressing tendons
  2. The corrosion mechanisms of steel reinforcement in concrete.
  3. Cathodic protection and its monitoring.
  4. Methods for and the interpretation of ground water analysis.
  5. Research Methodology and in particular the implementation of hypothetico-deductive techniques.

CONSULTING INTERESTS

For the Centre of Advanced Materials Technology Professor Cherry undertakes consulting tasks concerned with the corrosion and degradation of materials and its amelioration. He is currently Australian Councillor on the International Corrosion Council.
