A Monash engineering degree plus the Work Ready Program will give you the edge in a competitive market. Your application and interview skills will impress your new employer and get you started on your career path as quickly as possible.

Interview practice

The 2009 Work Ready Program lectures and facilitated workshops have been a great success! To further prepare you for employment interviews we are providing one-to-one interview practice!

Students in years three and four (or those applying for vacation or graduate work) will be given first preference. This experience will resemble as close as possible what you are likely to experience when applying for a job, particularly with a larger organisation.

What happens next?

We have been fortunate as Ms Brigitta Stevens from the Department of Psychology is conducting research regarding interview experiences as part of her work toward her Doctor of Psychology. Brigitta has a team of trained interviewers and assessors who will be available to interview and assess you!

There will be the opportunity to apply for a job by sending a cover letter and CV, attending an interview and receiving feedback. There will also be opportunities for participating in other types of assessment which often occur during the job application process. This is a fantastic opportunity to really experience job application and interviews at a level consistent with applying for position in a company.

Procedure
  1. Read the explanatory document.
  2. Read and fill in the consent form and return to cindy.taylor@eng.monash.edu.au (you cannot proceed without completing the consent form).
  3. Brigitta and her interviewers will indicate to those interested what times are available for interviews and where to attend.
  4. Once time slots for interviews are filled you will then be requested to send your CV and cover letter for the 'job' (details about the position and company will be sent to you).
  5. You will attend your interview and be given feedback on the interview.
  6. If you are continuing on to the next assessment stages you will be informed and placed in groups and notified of where to go and when.
  7. You will be given a time to attend for a debrief/feedback session on your interview/application performance!
I think you will enjoy this experience and it will certainly make you more confident and adept at interviews!
