Geographic Transition

Getting used to a university campus, a new city or even a different country can be tough for new students, but it's good to remember that everyone can feel lost when they are in a new and unfamiliar place.
  • The size of the university campus: Monash university is very large. It can be quite overwhelming at first. Have a look here at a map of the Clayton campus.
  • Class locations: Having classes all over campus may make you feel lost and rushed. Take a campus tour, get a map and go for a walk around the campus with friends and find the rooms that your classes will be held in, so you know where to go on your first day of classes.
  • New city or country: Moving to a new city or country is very exciting but also quite scary and daunting. Meet up with other new students and talk about how you feel, arrange to go on excursions on the weekends, read the tourist maps and websites, stay in touch with your family back home.
  • Travel arrangements: Most students will have to work out how to get to Monash from their home. Look here for information and maps. Leave plenty of time on your first day to travel to and from the campus.
