What is the Summer Research Program?
Explore the world of engineering research with Monash University's Faculty of Engineering Summer Research Program.
Undergraduate students in their penultimate year are invited to apply to undertake a research project over a 12 week period from late November 2009 until the end of February 2010.
As a Summer Research scholarship holder you will:
- Receive a $400 per week allowance (tax exempt)
- Explore a topical problem in great depth from a variety of research areas
- Gain research experience which will stand you in good stead when applying for engineering research degrees at Monash University
Monash University engineering undergraduate students may use their participation in the Experience Research Program as a contribution towards their work experience requirement for graduation.

Applications for the 2009-2010 program have now closed.
The Engineering Summer Research Program is a 12 week program, that includes a comprehensive range of activities and seminars to support the research training. The program commences on November 23rd 2009 with an induction/orientation day and will conclude with a poster competition/presentation on February 24th 2010.

I applied for the Summer Research Program in the hope of acquiring the necessary techniques to conduct research individually and scientifically for my Final Year project. I believe the experience was invaluable.
I enjoyed the project because it was something completely different from what I had learned in lectures or from doing assignments or exams. There was no predetermined answer and I had to discover the correct answer for myself, which I found both challenging and fun.
I love the fact that engineering transforms peoples lives, sometimes in very inconspicuous ways. Being capable of helping people and making positive changes is what attracted me to engineering.
