Final supplementary examinations
Where an undergraduate student has fail results within the range of 40 - 49 in one unit or two units (worth no more than 12 credit points in total) during the two most recent semesters of enrolment, and a passing grade in the unit(s) would complete all academic requirements for the degree, a department or school may choose to award supplementary examinations in the unit(s) in such form and at such time as seems appropriate. If a fail result is obtained in the supplementary examination, the student will be required to re-enrol in the unit.
Students should note that the department or school has complete discretion as to whether a supplementary examination will be awarded and whether it will take the form of a formal examination or further assessment tasks. Students should also note that the departments and schools do not envisage circumstances in which they would approve the award of supplementary examinations in certain units such as final-year thesis units or final-year design projects etc. Students seeking a last unit(s) supplementary examination must approach their department or school. The maximum mark returned for supplementary examinations will be 50 P.
