How to apply

Applicants for UROP will be selected on a competitive basis. The process of application for UROP is as follows

  1. Go to UROP projects page.

  2. Look through the project areas on the list of projects page and peruse the individual projects under the project areas that you are interested in.

  3. Complete the UROP application form (pdf, 69kb)

  4. For any queries about the project, contact the staff listed for that project.

  5. Details of application will be on the Application form. Note in particular -

    • The submission is to be sent to:

    by 14th April 2008.
    • Important information details sought in the application are:

    - choice of project (as per the list of web projects) - prioritise up to three projects from the list of web projects;

    - why you have chosen your first priority project - demonstrating research and understanding of the topic area;

    - which aspect of that project you are interested in - context and scope of the project component;

    - what you intend to get out of the project, academically and personally; and

    - that you have spoken to the project research supervisor or the research team leader (or nominee) about your interest in the project.

    * You must take your Application form to the meeting and ask for their signature to indicate to the UROP Working Party that you have discussed the project, understood what is involved, and have the support of the research supervisor/team to participate in their UROP project.
  6. Selection into UROP will be based on:

    - the strength and viability of the application;

    - what you wish to accomplish in the project; and

    - the support received from UROP project's supervisor/team.

  7. UROP applicants will be advised of the outcomes of their submissions by 18th April 2008.
