Monash Engineering Research and Industry Training (MERIT) program

At Monash Engineering we provide the highest quality technical training, but this is only the beginning of our commitment to our students.  Through the Monash Engineering Research and Industry Training (MERIT) program, we offer a wide range of programs to support you during your time at Monash and to help you prepare for life after your degree.

The MERIT program is made up of:

  • Work Ready Program: Provides engineering students with career management techniques, job application and interview skills to help them secure the job they want in an highly competitive graduate employment market.

  • Leadership in a Technological Environment (LITE) program:  Designed to produce the engineering leaders of the future.  The program provides a platform for academically advanced students to acquire skills which will serve them well beyond the transition from student to professional.

  • GROW: Industry constantly tells us that today’s graduates need better “soft skills” related to self-awareness, emotional intelligence, teamwork, leadership, innovation and communications etc. LITE was the faculty’s response for a small selected number of students. GROW is the faculty’s response for all our undergraduate engineering students.

  • Women in Engineering:Women make up over half the population and have their own ideas about the needs of society. They bring to the engineering profession a range of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as different perspectives on technology that have not always been incorporated into mainstream engineering thinking.
