Discontinuing from your course If you want to discontinue from your course you will need to complete and lodge an Enrolment amendment form with the Engineering Faculty Office. Students who have not re-enrolled during the official re-enrolment period will be discontinued by the faculty as ‘failed to re-enrol’. Please refer to Important Dates. Exchange students (outgoing) Students who have received faculty approval to undertake an exchange at a partner institution next year are required to re-enrol. To activate your exchange enrolment for next year, you will need to be enrolled in Engineering exchange units with a prefix of ‘EEH’. As these units are barred from WES you will need to enrol manually for the semester(s) you will be on exchange. If you are on exchange for only one semester, you should also re-enrol as usual (on WES) in the units for the semester you will be studying at Monash. At re-enrolment, you will be enrolled in one EEH unit for each unit of study. The credit points for each EEH unit will correspond with the credit points for the Monash unit you are substituting. Enrolling in EEH units ensures that you are charged at your normal tuition rate and that your fees are payable to Monash (full-fees) or the Australian government (CSP), not to your host institution. It also ensures that your enrolment remains active during your exchange and allows you to access online facilities and your email account. Exclusion Students who may be liable for exclusion should undertake normal re-enrolment for their course. Any enrolment will be provisional subject to the exclusion process and hearings will be held in January. Students who are expected to attend a hearing will be contacted with the date and time. Please keep your address details up to date via WES, as students who do not respond to the Academic Progress Committee (APC) will be excluded automatically. For more information regarding exclusions please check the current year Student Resource Guide. Failure of the last unit(s) in your degree Where an undergraduate student has fail results in one unit or two units (worth no more than 12 credit points in total) during the two most recent semesters of enrolment, and a passing grade in the unit(s) would complete all academic requirements for the degree, a department or school may choose to award supplementary examinations in the unit(s) in such form and at such time as seems appropriate. If a fail result is obtained in the supplementary examination, the student will be required to re-enrol in the unit. Students should note that the department or school has complete discretion as to whether a supplementary examination will be awarded and whether it will take the form of a formal examination or further assessment tasks. Students should also note that the departments and schools do not envisage circumstances in which they would approve the award of supplementary examinations in certain units such as final-year thesis units or final-year design projects etc. Students seeking a last unit(s) supplementary examination must approach their department or school. The maximum mark returned for supplementary examinations will be 50 P. Intermission If you wish to take intermission from your studies, contact your faculty to obtain and lodge an application for intermission. If you are only taking intermission for one semester you must re-enrol for the other semester. If you are currently on intermission you must re-enrol for the following year during the official re-enrolment period. Any semester(s) granted as intermission are counted as part of the total time limit for your course. For example, if you commenced a four-year Bachelor of Engineering in 2005, you must complete the program by the end of 2012. If you take a one-year period of intermission during this time, you will still be expected to complete your program by the end of 2012. International students As a general rule, international students are required to enrol in 24 credit points each semester. There are limited grounds on which you may enrol in less than 24 (but no less than 18) credit points in a semester. These include:
