Sunway to Clayton campus internal course transfer

Guidelines for 1st year Engineering students

Students who, at the time of transfer, have completed one semester of study in the Bachelor of Engineering at Malaysia can transfer to the common first year of the Bachelor of Engineering at the Clayton campus. After completion of the common first year, students will be subject to the branch selection process, with all other Clayton students to determine their specialisation for the second year of enrolment.

Students who, at the time of transfer, have completed two semesters in the Bachelor of Engineering are also eligible for transfer. Students transferring with only two semesters of study are considered together with the students already enrolled at the Clayton campus, in the branch selection process to determine their engineering specialisation for the second year of enrolment.

Any student who has failed units and is experiencing sequencing issues and hence will not be in a position to undertake a full 24 credit point study load per semester, will NOT be permitted to transfer to Clayton. Australian Immigration visa legislation requires international students to be enrolled in a full study load every semester.

The branch selection process is used to allocate students to one of the specialisations available at the Clayton Campus. During the second semester of study, students indicate three preferences for their branch of engineering. These preferences will be entered into a computer program which will match students' preferences against their academic results, the criteria for admission to each branch and the number of places available in each branch. The program will allocate students to a branch of engineering. No guarantee can be given that a student transferring to Clayton will be able to enrol in their first preference.

The criteria for selection to a particular branch will vary each year depending on student demand and the number of places available. The criteria required in semester two 2011 (indicative) is shown below.
