Vacation Employment
The Faculty of Engineering requires that all engineering students must
complete 12 weeks of approved work experience and submit a formal technical
report which documents the work satisfactorily as partial fulfilment of the
requirements of Bachelor of Engineering degree.
Procedures for Vacation Work
- Collect Summary Report Form and
Letter to Vacation Employment Supervisor from the Department of Chemical
Engineering
- Read Summary Report Form and Letter to Vacation Employment Supervisor
carefully
- Give copies of Summary Report Form and Letter to Vacation Employment
Supervisor to your Supervisor at the start of your employment
- Submit a draft of your Summary Report to your Supervisor at the start
of the last week of your employment
- Revise as requested
- Submit your Summary Report to your Supervisor
- Your Summary Report will be kept in your file at Monash
- Keep a copy for your records
- Dont forget to thank your Supervisor.
- If your report is unsatisfactory or the work experience is not
appropriate, you will be notified.
Insurance
Student enrolled in full time study who undertake vacation work
experience as part of their Engineering course are covered by the Monash
University Personal Accident Insurance Policy which provides capital,
medical and loss of income benefits. If the employer asks for a letter from
the University regarding Vacation Employment Insurance, you can download a copy
of the insurance letter
