Dr Roy Armfield

In many respects Dr Armfield’s contribution is unique. He combines undergraduate and graduate degrees from Monash, was awarded Full Blue for Hockey and he was a member of the Students Representive Council. Dr Armfield was one of the pioneers in the area of computer control during his PhD degree at Monash.

Dr Armfield has had a distinguished career in engineering and science, including working with ICI Australia, Cadbury Schweppes, and during the 1990’s with Mars Incorporated with roles based in Australia, Asia and the USA. In his most senior role as Director of Scientific Services based at Mars Incorporated Head Office, McLean, Virginia USA, Dr Armfield was Chairman of the Mars Scientific Advisory Board. His responsibilities spanned Mars Incorporated’s global operations covering over 215 sites, 100 manufacturing facilities, and sales in more than 100 countries.
