Professor Rob Melchers

After completing his undergraduate degree and Masters at Monash in the late 60’s, Professor Melchers travelled to the UK to complete his PhD at the University of Cambridge. Upon returning to Australia he undertook a DipEd back at his alma mater, Monash University. Professory Melchers is currently Professor of Civil Engineering and Australian Research Council Professorial Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle Australia.

Professor Melchers has won numerous awards including the Guy Benough Award 2007, Institute Materials, Minerals and Mining, UK, for a paper published by the Institute which makes an outstanding contribution to the subject of corrosion and degradation of all types of materials and their control and also the Marshall Fordham Research Paper Award, Aust. Corrosion Association in 2007, 2002 and 1999.

Professor Melchers has a keen interest in research, with his interest including Structural Engineering, Risk Analysis of complex systems, Computational Aspects and Corrosion and deterioration mechanics.
