Early Career Alumni of the Year
Dr Michael Danquah
Dr Michael Danquah, is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in
the Department of Chemical Engineering. During his PhD studies Michael
distinguished himself as a student who was passionate and enthusiastic
about his work and this resulted in his publication of numerous journal
papers and a patent. Michael's performance during his PhD studies in
Monash University was outstanding and perhaps unprecedented. Aside
from his doctoral research, Michael was actively involved in tutoring
different undergraduate courses including Biochemical Engineering and
Process System Analysis as well as various extracurricular activities
organized by the department.
Michael conducted his doctoral
dissertation under the supervision of Dr. Gareth M. Forde on the topic
"Rapid Production of Therapeutic Plasmid DNA via Pilot-scale Bacterial
Fermentation and Monolithic Purification", a research which has very
eminent applications for the future use of DNA molecules as human
therapeutic vectors, and this was well researched. During his doctoral
studies, he distinguished himself to be innovative, productive, and
established an enviable academic performance through the publication
of internationally recognised journal papers, patents, conference
