Current activitiesAs Associate Dean Research, Professor Mohan Krishnamoorthys’ main focus is in Industry Engagement and in aligning the Engineering Faculty’s strategic science priorities with industry needs. Mohan Krishnamoorthy is also for forging Monash University’s participation in the exciting and visionary IITB-Monash Research Academy, a joint-venture research academy that is being set up in Mumbai, India. His own research interests lie in the use of advanced mathematical, statistical, simulation, and optimisation models to turn data into information that can be used to make better decisions. BackgroundPrior to joining Monash University in July 2008 Professor Mohan Krishnamoorthy was on a one-year secondment to Monash University from July 2007 to June 2008. In that time he worked on shaping Monash Universitys’ engagement with IIT Bombay in the IITB-Monash Research Academy. Prior to that, from January 1992 to July 2008, Professor Krishnamoorthy worked for CSIRO. Initially he specialised in using his capabilities in operations research methods for engaging with several industrial clients. After securing his PhD from Imperial College London, in 1990, Professor Krishnamoorthy also taught Operations Research at the University of Kent, Canterbury from 1990 to 1991. Research InterestsMohan Krishnamoorthy completed his PhD thesis on the travelling salesman problem in 1990. He has published in Australian and International Journals as well as in Conference Proceedings. He is a member of the Australian Society of Operations Research (ASOR) and the Institute for Operations Research and management Science (INFORMS). At CSIRO, Mohan Krishnamoorthy undertook several research projects with industrial clients. He also carried out strategic research into generic OR problems and their solution methodologies. Mohan Krishnamoorthy has refereed papers for international journals and conferences such as Omega, Journal of Applied Intelligence, Journal of Artificial Intelligence, APJORS, Computers and Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research and Location Science, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & OR, ANZIAM, Journal.
